Night temperatures in Odisha to rise, fog likely in several districts

Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday forecasted a rise in Odisha’s night temperatures by 2-4 degrees Celsius over the next three days, with no major changes expected in the following two days.

Over the last 24 hours, a slight increase in temperatures was recorded across the state. G. Udayagiri remained the coldest at 5.4°C, up from 4.2°C the previous day, followed by Semiliguda at 6.6°C and Phulbani at 9°C. Rourkela and Jharsuguda reported 10.2°C, while Daringbadi stood at 11°C.

In the twin cities, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, temperatures rose to 14.4°C and 14.8°C, respectively, from 13.2°C on Tuesday. The IMD predicts night temperatures in these cities to remain between 14°C and 15°C over the next week.

Dense to very dense fog is likely in isolated areas of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, and Bhadrak districts until the morning of January 24. Shallow to moderate fog is also expected in parts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, and in isolated areas of Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh.

Foggy conditions may persist in some areas during the early morning hours of January 25.
