Bhubaneswar, Feb 28: The Odisha government will release the second installment of the Subhadra Yojana at a special event in Berhampur on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced on Friday that the financial assistance would be disbursed to around one crore women beneficiaries under the scheme.

“Subhadra Yojana will reach its target of one crore women. The distribution will take place at a special programme in Berhampur on March 8,” Parida stated.

So far, over 98 lakh women have benefited from the scheme through four phases of the first instalment. Officials emphasized that the event is being meticulously planned to ensure transparency and efficiency in fund distribution.

Launched on September 17, 2024, after the formation of the BJP government in Odisha, Subhadra Yojana aims to provide direct financial assistance to women. In the first phase, Rs 5,000 was credited to the bank accounts of 25 lakh women. The second phase, held on October 9, benefited 39 lakh women, while the third phase on November 24 covered 20 lakh women. The fourth phase, conducted on February 8, 2025, reached over 18 lakh women.

The scheme is set to be implemented over the 2024-25 to 2028-29 financial years, with the state government allocating Rs 55,825 crore for its execution.
