Bhubaneswar, odishafast, Oct 26: The severe cyclonic storm Dana, which recently made landfall in Odisha, has now weakened into a well-marked low-pressure system over the northern parts of the state, according to the latest update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday. The IMD reported that this low-pressure system is expected to weaken further within the next 12 hours.
After making landfall at Habalikhati Nature Camp in Bhitarkanika as a severe cyclonic storm early Friday morning, Dana transitioned into a deep depression and subsequently into a depression. The remnant system has moved slightly westward over the past six hours and is currently classified as a well-marked low-pressure area.
As a result of the storm’s impact, several districts, including Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Balasore, Jajpur, and Mayurbhanj, have experienced heavy rainfall. The IMD has indicated that rain is likely to persist in various parts of the state due to the lingering influence of the cyclonic system.
