Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has officially commenced the long-anticipated repair and renovation of the Ratna Bhandar at Puri Srimandir, starting on Tuesday. This project will adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) outlined by the Odisha government to ensure a systematic approach to the renovations.

Under the guidance of the ASI and temple experts, a dedicated team comprising conservators, chemical specialists, medical professionals, Fire Services personnel, and a specialized ASI unit will oversee the restoration efforts.

Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan addressed the media, stating that the repair work is expected to be completed within three months. “The ASI has committed to a three-month timeline, but we have encouraged them to expedite the process,” he remarked. He assured that the renovations would be scheduled in a manner that would not interfere with temple rituals or the darshan for devotees.

On the first day of the renovation, ASI officials will initiate repairs while closely monitoring the timing of the temple rituals to ensure no disruption. During this period, devotees can still have darshan from outside the ‘Bahara Katha.’ The repair work is set to continue daily for five hours, beginning around 12:30 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. and concluding at 6:00 p.m.
