Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s two-day visit to Odisha, scheduled to begin on Saturday, has been postponed as the nation mourns the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Jajpur MP Rabindra Narayan Behera announced the cancellation of Shah’s trip on Friday.

Shah was expected to arrive in Bhubaneswar late Saturday night and participate in three significant events. These included attending a BJP national party meeting via video conferencing from Kalinga Stadium on December 29. However, plans were altered following the passing of Singh, a prominent leader and the architect of India’s economic liberalization in the early 1990s.

Manmohan Singh, aged 92, passed away on Thursday in Delhi after a prolonged illness. In his honor, the Union Home Ministry declared seven days of national mourning, along with a state funeral.

Political leaders across party lines have expressed profound grief, remembering Singh’s immense contributions to India’s economic growth and governance. His statesmanship and dedication continue to inspire generations. Revised schedules for Shah’s Odisha visit will be announced soon.
